BikeCondoms in the Press!!!

Good weather, good friends, and good press!  What more could BikeCondoms ask for?  This was a great week for BikeCondoms, as we were featured on the popular website www.motorcycle.com.  Not only did they include a BikeCondoms photo, but they gave us a great review.  Check out the content below!

"Once in a while you see a product and you think “how has nobody thought of this before?” We think BikeCondoms fall in that category.

Instead of lugging around your bulky motorcycle cover every time there’s a chance of rain, a BikeCondom fits right in your pocket. It’s lightweight and, best of all, it’s cheap – only $5.99. The single-size BikeCondom should fit just about every bike, but the fit will vary depending on the size and fairings of your motorcycle.

BikeCondoms come in a recloseable package, so you can reuse it multiple times. But, since it’s only six bucks you don’t have to fret if it gets ripped or you just don’t want to fold it back up. Just toss it away and pick up a new one.

Disposable Motorcycle Covers?

Motorcycle Cover, Motorcycles Covers, Motorcycle CoversWow, this summer is going by too quickly! This week, Bike Condoms was featured in an Examiner article by Ron Arnold. Ron is based out of Detroit and frequently writes reviews about scooter and motorcyle-related news. He heard about our Bike Condoms from some positive news coverage related to the DealerExpo, so he offered to do an independent product review.  Not only did he give us a great review, but he also included a series of photos that depict him applying a Bike Condom to his scooter.

"BikeCondoms - Yeah, the name is strange, but I really think that they are onto something here. The Bike Condom is basically a plastic, disposable "shortie" scooter and motorcycle cover. It can be reused until it falls to shreds, and then can be discarded without guilt - the plastic used is completely biodegradable. I know that it sounds like something that you would never use, but it's proved invaluable to me. I tried it out after Jason Weaver (of BikeCondoms, Inc.) sent me one. I had been using it in the garage at home, and keeping it in the underseat storage on the Kymco and the Blur. It had performed well, and was much more convenient than carrying my big scoot cover around (which won't happen). It was great on the day that they cleaned out the parking garage (with that big vacuum cleaner-thing). Everyone's cars were covered with a fine layer of dust, but then I remembered that I had the cover on, and I rounded the corner to see that it was still in place. I took the Bike Condom off my scoot, waved it around to get most of the dust off, folded it up (a bit, it will NEVER go back into that small bag that it comes in) and put it under the seat. For something like $7, you will use the BikeCondom more than you think you would."

My Family's Support

I grew up in a relatively small town outside of Cleveland, Ohio.  As I grow older, I've become closer to my parents and my sister.  I think we've all been able to put some of the stupid things I did or said growing up aside and really appreciate who we've become - not only as family but also as friends.  I don't get to see them often enough, so I really value the time we do get to spend together.

In this post, I just wanted to thank my family for their support.  My sister works on the assembly line at General Motors and shortly after I told her about BikeCondoms, I received several Facebook friend requests from her boss and other co-workers who she had encouraged to support BikeCondoms.  It really meant a lot to me that she would do that.

My mom and dad have also been really supportive.  When your son comes to you during the worst economy of the past 60 or so years and says he wants to start a business and develop motorcycle covers called BikeCondoms, what do you say?  At first, my folks didn't talk much about it.  I didn't blame them, as the name can certainly turn some people off (and even at 30 it's still weird to hear your parents say the word "condom").  After I found out BikeCondoms had been named a Finalist in the Dealer Expo's Kickstart New Product Competition, I couldn't wait to tell them.  My dad ended up asking some of his co-workers who had been to the Dealer Expo before for advice.  He also, my mom later told me, stood up in church on that Sunday to tell everyone about the Expo's Kickstart competition.  Although he didn't say the product or company name (and he didn't need to), I thought it was awesome that he did that.  Here's to family...

Welcome to BikeCondoms' Blog

Welcome to the BikeCondoms blog!  This is our first official entry.  I've been asked by several members of the powersports community to keep them up to date on how BikeCondoms develops as a new small business.  We basically debuted our primary product, the original BikeCondom, at the 43rd annual Dealer Expo in Indianapolis.  It's one of the biggest tradeshows in the country and is only for dealers, distributors, and businesses in the powersports industry.  We met so many people who were extremely supportive of the product and willing to provide advice or contacts to help further BikeCondoms.  It was amazing!

I'll try to post frequently to this blog and let you know what's new with BikeCondoms.  Some of the posts might be about starting a new business, some might be about BikeCondoms specifically, and others might be just about riding or life in general.  In addition to following the blog, you can also keep up with BikeCondoms on Facebook by clicking the link below.  More to come...
